ABOUT

When I was pregnant…

yoga was a huge support for me. My practice gave me so many tools to get through my labor. I knew then that I wanted to be a yoga teacher and eventually, train to teach prenatal yoga.

By the time my 2nd son was born, I was deeply embedded in the world of prenatal and baby and me yoga. I noticed that in both clinical and holistic spaces, people in leadership positions were disempowering pregnant people by pushing their own narrative of what they thought birth should be like. I saw many expectant parents shamed to tears for not fitting into a specific expectation of birth.

My experiences as an expectant parent, new Mom, and yoga teacher inspired me to put myself out there and create change, even if it’s just one class at a time.

I offer a balanced practice that incorporates birth education and preparation, strength and endurance as well as relief from common pregnancy discomforts. My class will also help you gain tools and information to help you prepare for an empowered birth, whatever your birth choices may be. I hope you will join us.

Having a trusted person with you when you are giving birth can help you feel supported during labor. Anyone who you trust and feel comfortable with while you are giving birth such as the other parent-to-be, a relative or a close friend can be your birth partner.

Loving Touch for Birth is a workshop designed to teach you and your birth partner techniques to use during labor that can help you cope with the intense sensations of contractions, relax between contractions and get you through challenging moments

In our two hours together, I will discuss different techniques that can be used during birth and lead a prenatal  yoga practice where we can incorporate these techniques.  Please bring a yoga mat, a notebook and pen, water, a snack and, if you would like, a camera to take photos of the techniques you are learning.

In the Loving Touch for Birth workshop, you and your birth partner will…

  • Practice movements and poses to help increase intimacy and connection with your birth partner

  • Learn techniques such as counter pressure, massage and havening touch which have been clinically proven to help ease pain and regulate the nervous system

  • Practice movements that can aid in labor

  • Learn techniques that can be helpful during contractions and techniques for in-between contractions.

  • Move your body in a prenatal yoga practice

  • Discuss questions to ask your care provider and what to expect with a hospital, birth center or home birth.

  • Discuss possible scenarios that might come up during labor and strategies to deal with them.

I hope you will join me!

Frequently Asked Questions…

When can I start Prenatal Yoga?

You can start whenever you feel comfortable exercising. It’s a good idea to check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.

What if I purchased a 5-class pack but I missed some classes? Can I get a refund?

I don’t offer refunds for the 5-class pack once the series has started but, you can either get a credit for a future class or I can send you a recording of the class you missed.

What if I purchased a drop-in but I couldn’t make it at the last minute?  What are my options?

If you missed the class you can get a recording of that class or, depending on availability, attend a different class on a different day.  If you plan to attend on a different day, please let me know so I can make sure there is space available. You can email me at yesyoga@yesyogalove.com

I’m concerned about practicing indoors.  How can I keep from getting sick in class?

While the studio where the class is held has taken many measures to encourage air flow and help prevent the spread of illness, we can’t guarantee you won’t get sick.  You can alway wear a mask in class. Another option is to practice via Livestream instead of in-person.
